What are They Like?
There are various types of sauna that are marketed as 'portable'.
The first type is the foldable personal sauna. These portable saunas are made from a strong reflective material that you sit inside. You can have your head outside of the sauna so it is ideal for those people that don't like breathing in the hot air of a traditional sauna. Infrared heaters are placed inside the personal sauna that will then have a therapeutic effect on the body.
The second type is similar, being a personal sauna where the head is exposed. But in this case the body is constructed of thermoplastic and metal. This gives a solid robust feel, but means that it cannot be packed away. However they do come with wheels attached so that you can move it from room to room.
The final type is the prebuilt wooden portable sauna. This is more like a traditional sauna and is one that can fully enclose the body and you can get them to accommodate more than one person. These are 'portable' in the sense that they are delivered as a kit and can be assembled and disassembled more quickly and easily than a regular sauna. In practice you would probably only want to take it down if you were to move house.
